Sheehan, as a youngster, was known to throw a pass or two under the stands while his older brother John played for South Hills.

The bond project will plan a scope of work over the next decade for the Covina Valley Unified School District. In addition to the new district field, new tracks and playing fields at all three schools for soccer and lower level football teams has been completed. A new quad at South Hills and a new entrance at Northview high school have also been completed. Also scheduled for construction are aquatics centers at all three high schools. CIF-Southern Section football championship games have been held at the facility, with the last title game for any of the three schools held in when South Hills won the Division VII championship against Orange.

The championship game, however, was played at Mt. San Antonio College. Even with the new name, it will still be Covina District Field, better known as CDF, to all of those who have and will put on a uniform through the years.
